Smurfs are on their way to The Sandbox. The Sandbox blockchain gaming platform’s creator, Animoca Brands, has announced a partnership with The Smurfs licensor IMPS to bring The Smurfs on The Sandbox.
Furthermore, the virtual Smurfs hamlet will be in construction within The Sandbox as part of the contract. Players will visit this village, play Smurfs games there, and buy Smurfs blockchain collectibles to use in their Smurf games.
The Sandbox is a 3D virtual world where independent game developers can make their games. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or blockchain collectibles can be sold for $SAND to fund these games.
$SAND is a platform-agnostic cryptocurrency that may be freely exchanged on Binance and other exchanges.
The Sandbox’s goal is to remove central authority from the platform, allowing innovation to bloom.
Several IPs, like Care Bears, Shaun the Sheep, Atari, and others, have already partnered with The Sandbox.
The Sandbox Collaboration with The Smurfs
In December 2020, The Sandbox will go into open beta. Gamers will acquire NFTs through gameplay and trade them with other players or developers throughout the test period. The Sandbox aims to be a Play to Earn game rather than a Pay to Win one by allowing players to sell their items.
The Smurfs is a well-known brand of adorable little blue creatures. It all started in 1958 with many characters from artist Peyo’s comic book series Johan and Peewit. Peyo offered these characters their series immediately after they appeared since they were so popular with fans.
Hanna-Barbera turned The Smurfs comic into an animated series in 1981. Moreover, the series aired on NBC and broadcasts worldwide for nine seasons.
The first Smurfs film first released in 2011. Two sequels followed, with the three films grossing more than $1 billion. A new computer-generated imagery-based television series is in the works.
IMPS will receive parcels of LAND, non-fungible tokens representing chunks of space within The Sandbox virtual world as part of the new arrangement. The classic Smurf Village from the comic books and cartoons will be in 3D voxel form on this LAND.
Smurf Village will also be accessible to Sandbox players by moving their avatars onto the LAND it occupies. Additionally, kids will be able to socialize with other Smurfs fans and play Smurf-themed games in which they can take on the roles of Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette, Azrael, and other characters from the film.
The Sandbox and IMPS will also create collectibles based on the brand, and gamers will construct their own The Smurfs games utilizing these collectibles.
On November 12, consequently, as part of the final round of LAND sales, the first-ever The Smurfs collectibles for The Sandbox will be available for purchase. More information is available on the event’s official The Sandbox Medium page.
