Russia-Ukraine Artifacts on Arweave

Over five million contents on the Russia and Ukraine war are now archived on Arweave’s permaweb. The cause was launched a week ago when the founder of Arweave, Sam Williams, announced a $100,000 grant. The contents which include videos, pictures and web links will store for 200 years and could possibly be used for research and investigation purposes as the crises declines into a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Projects in the Arweave ecosystem, including Bundlr, has contributed to making the archiving project a reality.

The Ecosystem

The week ended with Ever Finance’s third NFT auction going live. Only 20 people were shortlisted, of the 1,346 people who entered for the opportunity to be added to a whitelist.

Being on the shortlist allows all bidder’s access to the auction 300 minutes before others.

PeirreSteinClaysky, a Clay artist, who is also a writer for Arweave News, has featured in the auction with nine pieces. Ever Finance features the works of one artist within the auction every month.

“It is the final stage of a personal project that has lasted for almost 6 months. NFTs, together with its storage, give resilience to the pottery pieces I have created from the physical space to the digital world.” PierreSteinClaysky said.

Owned NFTs

In addition to a collection of contents that promotes the Arweave ecosystem and assists audiences to make sense of emerging technologies, the News now has a 3D NFT piece of its own, gifted by PierreSteinClaysky.

“A certain piece from the #OldGodsRemastered collection won’t put through @FinanceEver’s auction. This is a gift for @ArweaveNews. A team like no other. Thank you, guys, for bearing me so far,” PierreSteinClaysky wrote.

Arweave and NFTs Partnership

In the process of the week, there was a partnership agreement between its ecosystem and the non-fungible token or NFTs space. At this point, it’s between Meson Network, a bandwidth marketplace and “Show me”, a subscription NFT social network built on Web3. The arrival of Meson Network gives ShowMe more choices in carrying more content formats, Meson Network said.

Also, in the NFT space, Mintbase, an NFT marketplace that has built its database on Arweave, released its 1000th smart contract and to celebrate, it put to use its “transfer store ownership feature.”
